watch out for promisors

Steven Tari, a 35 year-old "failed Bible student", has been going around Papau New Guinea "promising gifts from heaven" if people joined his congregation.

(Sounds plausible. Heck, there are churches everywhere promising people "blessings" and all kinds of "glory" and "entering into the Throne Room" if they will come to their church...)

Tari had built his congregation up to around six thousand people. However, it turns out, he was involved in cannibalism and has been arrested for raping, murdering and eating at least three women.

Tari was arrested on a trip to the city of Matepi, where he was recruiting additional church attenders.

Local government official Anthony Wagambie said "We are a Christian country and his deeds are not reflective of this."

One onlooker of the arrest said: "It was as if he thought he was being humiliated like Christ before he was crucified."

Tari was beaten by local villagers before being handed over to police.
